Excursion to Laishevo. Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin was born in a family of small noblemen in the family estate of Sokury near Kazan on July 14, 1743, where he spent his childhood. Since the foundation of the Imperial Russian Academy in 1783 Derzhavin was a member of the academy, he was directly involved in the compilation and publication of the first explanatory dictionary of the Russian language. At the present time in Laishevo is organized a beautiful museum of local lore with an interesting exposition, in which you will meet the real Empress Catherine II with Countess Vorontsova. This interactive will immerse you in the atmosphere of the 18th century. The program includes lunch in the city cafe.
Excursion to Chistopol (Tatar “Chistai”). It is a beautiful ancient city, which got its status in the distant 1781 by the decree of Empress Catherine II. At the end of the XIX century Chistopol – a major center for grain trade. Until 1917 – the second most important (after Kazan) city of Kazan province. During the Great Patriotic War, Soviet writers and poets such as A. Akhmatova, M. Tsvetaeva, A. Fadeyev, A. Tarkovsky were evacuated here.
