Kazan parks: the best places for walking and relaxing

Aigul Latypova — Director of the Directorate of Parks and Squares of Kazan

Where to go in the city in different moods — alone, with a child, friends or the whole family. — Now our organization is focused on three key areas — maintenance and landscaping, rich cultural programming and active promotion of entrepreneurial activity. Thanks to this, Kazan's parks and squares become not only well-groomed, but also interesting for city residents and tourists.

I will tell you about those parks and squares in the city that people most often leave positive feedback on — and where they are happy to return again. In the very center is located Black Lake Park is an ideal place for relaxing and walking. In summer, you can sit by the fountain, and in winter, you can ride a large ice rink.

The main attraction of the park is the Lovers' Arch. It is interesting for its acoustic effect: two people can stand on different sides of the arch, talk in whispers and hear each other perfectly. The park has a rich cultural life: concerts, exhibitions and festivals are held here.

Kaban Lake Embankment is a modern space with barbecue areas, boat rentals and the tallest fountain in Kazan (50 meters). There is an ornithological route equipped with binoculars and audio guides with a library of bird voices. And for children, the best place will be Children's Park "Elmai" ("smile" — tat.) with the largest playground in the city and a natural maze.

Suitable for history lovers Krylia Sovetov Park, opened in 1939. It is dedicated to the Soviet aviation history and has preserved the unique architecture of those years. If you are looking for natural beauty, go to Blue lakes. The water here is +6°C all year round and has an incredible azure hue due to its mineral composition. Local divers even maintain the tradition of dancing around the Christmas tree at the bottom of the lake.

New spaces are also interesting: The park near the residential complex "Salavat Kupere" with a restored lake and the first playground in the republic for active games with dogs, as well as The Fisherman's Garden, where the legendary fountain with sculpture was restored. Special attention should be paid to Boulevard on Serova St. — the first public place in the city fully adapted for people with disabilities, including a sensory garden and Braille on the stands.

There are thousands of trees and flowers in parks —
a place where nature meets the city.
